After graduating from Kent Institute of Art and Design in 2002, with a First Class Honours Degree in Ceramics, I set up my own studio in Tunbridge Wells.
My sculptures are selling not only in galleries in the UK but also in the United States, where my work has featured in Elle Décor and The Oprah Magazine.
Originally inspired by the horse chestnuts and conker forms found in the autumn. I have always been fascinated by the mass of vicious spikes that protrude from the outside combined with a rich, luscious velvety interior.
I am intrigued by the way in which the horse chestnut form sits on surfaces, hovering above the surfaces, dancing in the air. When knocked or touched it just tumbles and repositions itself.
In my ceramic work, the spikes represent a protective barrier to the form. The forms themselves often convey a female sensuality, with rich interiors most recently using gold leaf in contrast with the pure white porcelain.
Above all, I hope my work conveys a sense of natural beauty, the spikes all having been made by hand with minor imperfections creating even more beauty.
